The Carriage
The carriage is like a traditional lift truck since the lifting attachment can be tilted forwards and backwards from its horizontal. The tilt that is possible on this equipment exceeds more than that of the vertical masts. There are different types of available lifting attachments, and this ability to position makes them as effective as possible.
The majority of telehandlers have the capability of tilting to a position that is actually parallel to the ground. Some units have rotating carriages also. This allows the operator to radially adjust the lifting attachment. This translates to the load being capable of being tilted forwards and backwards, and side to side.
Load Capacity
Telehandlers have a load capacity fairly similar to that of the vertical mast model. The unit's overall capacity would be dependent on things such as: the amount of boom transaction deployed, if this is applicable and boom angle and extension, whether the unit is lifting on rubber tires or on outriggers. In addition, which lifting attachment plays an important role, as does the wind, the grade the machine is operating on et cetera. All of these specifics could be changing on a regular basis and this gives the operator a lot more information to consider.
Usually, telehandlers have several load charts available in order for the operator to reference so they can determine the load capacity of a particular lift. Depending on the boom's configuration and the unit in particular, the load capacity may differ by thousands of pounds all together.
