A kind of device in the material handling industry that can be utilized to raise and move loads from one location to another is called a forklift. Every component of a forklift has a particular function. Different parts can be utilized to transport the load vertically or horizontally.
Mast
The components used to lift and lower the load is referred to as the forklift mast. There are different types of masts for raising loads to various heights: quad, simplex, duplex and triplex.
Power Supply
There are four various ways you can power a forklift: electric, gas, propane and diesel. The battery is situated within the cab beneath the seat. The propane tank is on the back of the truck. The fuel tank on diesel and gas forklifts is under the back of the truck.
Cab
Positioned in the center of the truck is the forklift cab. This is where the operator sits and accesses all the informational gauges and controls. The gas pedal, steering wheel, lifting controls, tilting controls and brake are all located inside the cab.
Frame
Carrying all the largest forklift parts is the frame of the truck. This includes the counterweights located at the rear that prevents the truck from tipping over when loaded. The frame consists of the overhead guard which protects the operator. The undercarriage holds the axles, wheels and driveshaft.
