Telescoping Boom Lifts
Telescopic booms are big industrial machines designed with a straight boom arm which is extendable. The boom is typically located on a rotating turntable. The telescoping boom lifts are usually used for jobs that need tasks to be carried out at heights which exceed other kinds of lifts. Like for instance, workers could carry out exterior repairs or renovations on medium sized buildings but utilizing these lifts as opposed to having the extra work of setting up an outside elevator or a pulley system.
The boom lift is only designed to hold a single person. These buckets are more suitable to particular tasks such as electrical repair, rather than general maintenance or window washing. These lifts are offered with both outdoor and indoor tires and are available in gas or electric configurations.
Scissor Lifts
Underneath the scissor lifts work platform are the cross braces in which the machinery gets its name. When the braces move together it pushes the platform straight up. Because these types of machinery should be positioned directly beneath the work location, as opposed to boom lifts, these units are way more limited in their use.
The scissor lift usually has a bigger platform that enables the operator to control the lift to access a larger work area once the lift platform is raised off the ground. With scissor lifts, all-terrain capability is less of a problem with these kinds of machinery, since they need to sit on flat ground in order to be used. Scissor lifts are great for being used for cladding or window installation, because they provide the personnel with the desired mobility; they are also a good choice for window cleaning applications or exterior repairs.
Boom Trucks vs. Cranes
Boom trucks, bucket trucks and cherry pickers each refer to the class a type of utility vehicle utilized specifically for vertical work. Generally, these types of trucks have a cab. It is here where the operator sits and operates the machine. There is a bucket for where the employee could stand along with an actuator arm for raising the boom and a winch for lifting.
Cherry pickers can raise workers up to heights which were previously inaccessible. The cranes function is to lift both heavy materials and equipment for one location to another. There are different kinds of cranes which can carry out a variety of purposes. Both of these different kinds of machinery excel at different jobs and are great for particular applications and completing certain tasks.
