Forklifts are vehicles usually found within warehouses, factories and different work sites where it is necessary to move heavy materials from one location to another. The mast is the mechanism located on the front of the forklift which hydraulically lowers and raises the load. The "cat" is the area which is protected where the operator of the forklift sits.
Forklifts are capable of carrying loads between one and five tons in weight. Various kinds can be used to raise shipping containers and loads which are a lot heavier.
Forklift tires should be maintained and checked on a regular basis. The kinds of tires on various forklifts vary according to factors such as weight of the loads, ground surfaces and frequency of use. Each and every forklift operator must have access to replacement tires, a forklift jack and tire press.
Tire Maintenance Instructions
Carry out tire inspections regularly. Watch for signs of wear and damage to the tires. If the wear on the tire exceeds 40 percent, it should be replaced.
When purchasing tires, ensure that you are buying the right type - polyurethane, solid or pneumatic.
When you need to replace the tires, the forklift jack must be positioned under the tire. You could easily change the tires if you lift the forklift high enough.
To remove the damaged tire, pull the tire from the rim using the tire press. Install the new tire and properly secure it. If you are changing more than one tire and you have just one jack, lower the forklift, and then reposition the jack at the next tire.
On-site tire repair can be performed by a repair company. If the tire is extremely large for both in-house and mobile tire presses, the damaged tire must be transported to a shop that has a stationary tire press.
